Ekta Kapoor, popularly hailed as the ‘content czarina’ of the industry has helped to showcase more than 100 characters in Indian Television. Ekta kickstarted a new genre on television with her K-serials. Ekta’s Balaji Telefilms had produced the most popular shows namely Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi: The show played a major role in changing the fortunes of Balaji Telefilms. Smriti Irani played the protagonist Tulsi Virani in the daily, and the show revolved around her and her family’s daily life struggles.
Kasautii Zindagii Kay: The love story of the simple Anurag (Cezanne Khan) and firebrand Prerna (Shweta Tiwari) was a favourite during the early 2000s. The reboot version was also launched on Star Plus but it soon went off air.
Kahiin To Hoga: No one can deny falling in love with the story of Sujal and Kashish. In fact many of the guys got their first crush as Aamna Sharif and girls of course Rajeev Khandelwal.
Hum Paanch: The was one of the several old Hindi shows that was re-aired during the coronavirus lockdown earlier this year. Hum Paanch was a favourite among all age groups. It had the father (played by Anand Mathur) describing each of his daughters’ distinct personalities in a hilarious way.
