The episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai starts with Sirat refusing to participate saying there is not much time to practise. Kartik reminds her how she fought the whole world and became a champion. Sirat says her priority is him and her children and that she can’t do boxing. Kartik says she is his priority as well, so he will leave his job and they will take the responsibility together. She leaves saying she has to help Kairav with a school project. Kartik feeds Akshu and says my daughters can become someone’s dream but not the reason that someone’s dream is not fulfilled. She asks Akshu if she wants mummy to bring the home trophy. Akshu says yes, he says mummy will but they have to promise to be good girls when she goes to practice.
Kairav ruins his project by spilling colour. He gets worried that the teacher will give him low grades. Sirat tells him to not lose courage and fixes the project with her idea. She tells Kairav that when problems are big they need to make their courage bigger. Kartik comes and tells Sirat to motivate herself as she does to others. She tells Kartik to not force her. He tells her she should fulfil Maudi’s dream and they will take care of the children. Sirat says Maudi’s dream was to see her as a national champion which is completed. He says she wants to see her good career, so sign this form, go for training.
Dadi comes and asks what is he is making Sirat do. He says he wants Sirat to participate in the Asian championship. Dadi, Surekha and Manish argue with Kartik regarding this. Manish says if Sirat has decided that career is important for her than kids they can’t do anything. Kartik says it’s his decision and Sirat is refusing to fill the form. Sirat is refusing to go boxing because of family members. Sirat says it’s not true. Surekha says Sirat is a mother now. Kartik says they can take care of the kids, it’s not necessary that Sirat has to be here all the time. Akhilesh asks where is the match going to be held, Sirat says Panchwadi. Surekha says it’s far, Dadi says she shouldn’t go.
Kartik says they wouldn’t have stopped him. Manish says it’s different since he is a boy. Kartik says this is hypocrisy as girls aren’t allowed to go ahead and choose their careers. They have to sacrifice their dreams to maintain the ideal bahu, wife, mother status. Manish tells him to not give a lecture about it. Kartik asks Sirat to fulfil her dream and sign the form. Sirat tears the form saying she has to think about the kids and can’t do this now. Kartik apologises to Sirat saying he thought he knew her but was wrong. He was wrong to think she got excited after seeing Sheela’s match and wrong to think she got happy when Aditi said about the championship. Manish tells Kartik to not force Sirat. Later Gayu tells Kartik that women change after becoming a mother and start thinking about kids rather than themselves. Then it becomes too late to fulfil their dreams. She says she doesn’t want this to happen with Sirat.
