Over the years we have come across some of the finest actors we have ever known who we know through Bollywood movies. But most of these stars first started their journey through theatre. One such star we all know is Makarand Deshpande and we are here to tell you more about why we love him.

All of Makarand Deshpande’s gifts to the Indian theatre world

Makarand Deshpande was born in the year 1966 on the 6th of March. The great actor was born in a place called Dahanu in the state of Maharashtra. Most of us seem to recognize him for his splendid acting in several Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Telegu and Malayalam films. However an unknown fact is that he is also a writer and director. Some great examples of the Bollywood movies he has been part of are movies like Swades, Buddha….Hoga Tera Baap and Darna Zaroori Hai.

Although, there is yet something most of us fans do not know about Makarand. It is the fact that he first started his journey through acting from the theatre world and is a gift to it. The star has been part of 90 theatrical works over his span of career including 50 short plays and 40 full length plays. Some of his greatest works in theatre include Sir Sir Sirla, Krishna Kidding and Shakepearcha Mhatara. One of his most recent works is called Patni and it is a hit across the country. His journey through theatre started in 1990 at Prithvi Theatre with support from Sanjana Kapoor. His years of experience in the theatre world is quite evident in his intense acting skills that we see in movies even today.
