Nipun Dharmadhikari is one of the renowned names in the Marathi film industry. He is the founder of the Pune-based theatre outfit, Natak Company. The young taskmaster is known to have revived musical dramas into five-act plays and given them a new direction in contemporary times.
These plays have got huge recognition, especially in the Marathi theatre circuit. He has also taken this form of theatre art to the film festivals as well as to the Bharat Rang Mahotsav. Natak Company, which Nipun set up in 2009, is self-funded and self-managed. The 50-member unit scripts enacts, directs, produces and stages shows by itself. His experimental work gets a strong vote of confidence from eminent theatre personality Raell Padamsee.
Prior to finding his feet in professional theatre, Nipun was a name to reckon with in Pune’s vibrant amateur theatre circuit. In 2003, he started acting in plays for Purushottam Karandak, Pune’s coveted inter-collegiate theatre competition.
