Australian superstar Chris Hemsworth has made a grand impact with his action avatar in his new film Extraction, a big-screen thrill-a-minute experience brought to our homes by Netflix during these times of compressed entertainment.

Hemsworth, who has worked with the film’s debutant director Sam Hargrave in the Marvel superhero films where Hargrave served as the stunt coordinator, says he was all too happy to be part of Hargrave ‘s directorial debut.

Joe (Joseph) Russo who directed Hemsworth in the Marvel super-hero Avengers films has written Extraction.

Says Hemsworth, “I was happy to work with Sam Hargrove and Joe Russo again, and the moment I read the script, I thought it would be a brilliant film. It was just a unique quality and combination of action, emotional resonance and I think people can really connect to this type of film. ”

About his character Tyler Rake, Hemsworth says, “The character I portray, is a mercenary who is broken and is a lost soul. When tasked with a mission to retrieve the son of a drug lord, Rake goes through a process of awakening which forces him to confront his past and redeem himself.”

The stunts in Extraction are unlike anything we’ve seen in cinema anywhere.

Chris Hemsworth who loves doing his own stunts and has done most of the heart-in-the-mouth action in Extraction on his own says, “The goal was to make Tyler Rake look athletic, to strengthen and build muscle. My routine included a lot of functional training and detailed fight choreographies that helped my flexibility and movement while performing. With this initial preparation for the film, physically, I was in a better place to perform such complex fight sequences than I would have been two or three months prior.”
