Rajkumar Hirani marks his OTT debut as a producer with Pritam And Pedro, and also marks the acting debut of his son, Vir Hirani. Directed by Avinash Arun, the six-episode web series is a comedy-thriller. The series stars Arshad Warsi, Vikrant Massey, Mona Singh, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Satyadeep Mishra, Shruti Marathe, and others.

A Cat-and-Mouse Chase Drama

At a time when content is the king and the audience expects more than usual, Pritam And Pedro is a tale that delivers, but nothing to be really surprised by. The series explores the cat-and-mouse chase; however, instead of being deeply intense and highly energetic, it takes a comedic route, making it a light-hearted watch.

The Story

The story follows Pritam, played by Vir Hirani, who comes with his grandfather to file an FIR for his stolen radio. However, the officer doesn’t consider his complaint, leading Pritam to demand justice and eventually be jailed himself. Meanwhile, the head officer, Pedro, hurries in, looking busy trying to solve the ATM robbery case. To his surprise, Pritam comes to his rescue, quickly finding all the details and helping him solve the case in no time, which leads to their friendship.

However, Pedro’s life changes as he is punished by being posted to a cyber cell, while he asks his senior to help him escape it; in doing so, he has to solve a couple of cybercrime cases. Soon, he gets a big case — a politician’s son, Vinny, played by Shreyansh Kaurav, goes missing, and this sets the stage for the drama ahead.

Direction, Craft, And More

Avinash Arun is an acclaimed director, but this time it looks like he narrated a forgettable tale. However, the series has elements of comedy and light-hearted moments, yet as a whole, it struggles to leave a lasting impact. The cinematography could have been better, while the dialogues were good, which helped the story survive.

Performances

Arshad Warsi as Pedro presented the character with ease, bringing back his iconic mix of seriousness and comedy. He is someone who shines wherever he goes. Also, the uniform does suit him, and we wish to see more.

Vir Hirani as Pritam was impressive. It didn’t feel like his debut, but he still needs improvement overall.

Vikrant Massey as Martin is a surprise as the antagonist. At the same time, other characters added to the thrill, drama, and suspense.

Overall, Pritam And Pedro is a decent watch, with comedy and light-hearted moments in the usual cat-and-mouse thriller. The series delivers and grips viewers, but struggles to keep that factor throughout.
