Talented actor, Aamir Ali, who has been away from TV for a while, is now featuring along with better half, Sanjeeda Sheikh, in a new music video called Ajnaabi.

“This is the sequel to our earlier video, Bas Ek Baar(Times Music), which had released a few months back. The story continues from where it ended, when Sanjeeda walks out on me. I am now shown thinking and dreaming about her. The soulful vocals are by Soham Naik,”says  Aamir, who has done hit shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Who Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki and FIR. He and Sanjeeda had won Nach Baliye as well, back in 2007.

“It was a fun shooting experience on beautiful Kashid beach, some distance from Alibaugh. We had finished shooting both the videos in one day.”

When asked about the promotional power of the web, he says, “Today, songs releases first on digital, then on TV. It is a great space to be in.”

Asked about the response, he says, “We have slowly grown, currently raking in 5 million views since the launch, six days ago. I guess the success of the first has sure helped our case.”

Are the number of online hits and views being bandied about by the makers organic? “I really don’t know about these things. Our numbers are much more conservative; others get 50 million in the same time.”

When asked about his year-long absence from TV, Aamir says, “I needed this break after working nonstop for 5 years. TV had killed me from inside. I needed to recover from injuries (shoulder and knees got worn out). Don’t get me wrong; I love TV. It’s just that the long working hours do take a toll, and sometimes, it is just not injuries; you get fatigued by other factors as well.” His last show was Sarojini.

“Now, I am on the recovery path, and you might see me on some TV show soon.”

He would also be game for web series, like Sanjeeda did (Gehraiyaan). “Sadly, at first, most web content was sexual. But now things are on the mend. Give it a year or two; digital content will really grow in quality.”

We wish him luck.
