As per a media report in CNBC TV19, Mitron app, which was often ‘hailed’ as India’s answer to TikTok has been taken down by the Google Play Store.

The application used to allow people to post short videos and the immense popularity helped the app get more than 5 million downloads in less than a month.

The app initially earned popularity after PM Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ call but soon found itself in a spot of bother when it got surrounded by a series of controversies.

It is also to be noted that as per a News18 report, the full set of features and user interface was apparently bought from a Pakistani developer.

Google suspended the app for allegedly violating its ‘spam and minimum functionality’ policy.

CNBC also states the users of the app should also worry about their privacy.
