This weekend featured the legends of the Bhojpuri film industry, followed by Pawan Singh, Manoj Tiwari, and Dinesh Lal Yadav. The three towering figures of cinema have nurtured the nittigritties of where Bhojpuri cinema stands today. What later unfolded in the episode was a burst of laughter, some anecdotes from the legends’ film sets, and infectiously hilarious punchlines. Not that it deviated from its usual setup in the other episodes, but it was definitely refreshing.

What was the catch? Navjot Singh Sidhu initiated the episode with a heartwarming shayari, hailing Manoj Tiwari as royalty. He said, and we quoted, “Bhojpuri ka badshah hai…pyar se sabko napa..na yeh chacha hai, na yeh tau kisa ka…yeh toh Rinkiya Ke Papa hain.” Rinkiya Ke Papa still remains one of the iconic chartbusters for people who enjoy Bhojpuri music and songs.

The comedy sketches in this episode were the crown takers. Kapil Sharma pulled off his grand punchlines, leaving the guests and the judges in laughter. He picked up a political avatar in the show. In this episode, it was more a matter of political inclination. We know it as we also see Kiku Sharda in the avatar of Donald Drunk (Trump). Sunil Grover spectacled all by own flavour and gravity that of the audience’s favourite character Bantu Kumar Bijali—it also gave a classic Bhojpuri flavour to the viewers.
The Great Indian Kapil Show continues to make us laugh. And with this one, we also want to note the diversified deliveries that the show pushes. With pan-Indian guests on the couch, the show proposes newer dimensions to possess a laughter at its best.
Watch it on Netflix.
