Sacred Games is an Indian web television thriller series. It is based on Vikram Chandra’s novel of the same name. It is the first Netflix original series in India. Sacred Games is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, who produced it under their banner Phantom Films.
The series revolves around the story of a gangster Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who calls a police officer named Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and tells him to save the city.
The series was one of the most popular web series in India. It gained all its popularity on the release of its first four episodes, premiered on 29 June 2018, with the full season of eight episodes released on Netflix on 5 July 2018, across 191 countries. The subtitles for the series are available in more than 20 languages. The series is mostly praised for its performances and dialogues.
