Ishan Mishra’s film debut with the recently released Nushrratt Bharuccha film Janhit Mein Jari is being appreciated. The actor who is known for his portrayals in It’s Not That Simple 2, Laakhon Mein Ek 2, Human etc plays the role of a condom company salesman.

In a candid chat with IWMBuzz.com, Ishan talks about his film and on his journey on the whole.

Excerpts:

You have had a good year on the OTT and movie space. Tell us about it.

Yes, definitely it has been a good year. My first film has been released and I’m really happy about it and it’s definitely a very nice feeling for any actor. We have been receiving quite a good response from the audience as well as my family. So I’m feeling a lot happier now, as I was nervous before. And subsequently, in the next few months, Mumbaikar will also release. So I’m excited about that as well.

What are the important factors that you look into when you pick up a role?

One of the important factors that I look out for while auditioning or saying yes to a role is it should be important enough to drive the story or push the story to a certain extent. If that part is contributing to the story to move it further, that would be a point for me to pick that role and do justice with it.

Take us through your experience shooting for Janhit Main Jari?

The experience of shooting this film will always be a memorable one because it is my first feature film and secondly, it was shot in my hometown. It was really fun shooting in the place where you have spent some of the best memories of childhood. We were shooting during the pre-Diwali time in Gwalior and there were small shops of people selling all kinds of decorative things for Diwali. The feel of the local market which you get to see, in fact for other actors who are not from MP is really amazing. Walking through the streets of Gwalior and suggesting to your co-actors some good food were some of the memorable experiences for me.

Tell us about your character there?

My character name is Achanak in the film and I work with Mr. Aadarniya which is played by Brijendra Kala sir. He is in charge of the condom manufacturing and sales company Little Umbrella. After Manokamna (played by Nushrratt) joins the office, he is not very happy about it in the beginning and later he realizes that she is doing it for a good cause. The film talks about a very major topic which we all need to be aware of. We haven’t spoken much on this topic and that’s what the film is trying to convey through its humor, sarcasm and story. So yes, it feels good to be a part of a film that has a social message underlined.

Is there any dream role that you want to play?

We all have our favorite list of films and characters from films and shows but honestly speaking I haven’t thought of a dream role that I want to play. But yes, I have a long list of roles which are close to me but those are already been played, so I can’t recreate them. But yes I really want to play a challenging role and something out of the box so that it becomes a dream role for others.

What are your future goals with respect to your career?

Currently, the only goal I have is to be a part of filmmaking for the rest of my life. I want to work with good producers, directors and writers, and play different and challenging characters putting all my dedication and hard work. I wish to create a sigh of relief moment for all who watch me as an actor and also want to be a part of a story which conveys a social message and brings about a change in people’s life.

What are the new projects that are lined up?

The next project coming out is Mumbaikar. It’s a feature film directed by Mr. Santosh Sivan. I have an interesting part. I’m believing that people would love that. It is the Bollywood debut film of Vijay Sethupati, so that makes the film big. We also have some other great actors too in the film. There is a feature film for which I’m currently shooting in Jabalpur but it has not been announced yet. It’s altogether a different role and the film would be well received by audiences because it has a very different take on a very different topic.
