Arjun Chakrabarty is one of the most good-looking and talented, young actors in the Bengali film industry. Cinema certainly runs in the blood of his family as he’s the son of veteran legendary actor, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty. One of the most amazing things about Arjun’s work is the fact that he can make any role look effortless despite carrying huge responsibility on his shoulders.

Talking about responsibility, he does have that in plenty as his latest film ‘Avijatrik’ which is based on the life of Apu from the famous ‘Apu Triology’ has received some rave reviews from film festivals and globally. The movie shows the relationship of Apu and his son, Kajol, and their quench for wanderlust to travel to different places. During an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz, when asked about his first memories of Satyajit Ray’s cinema and books, he was quoted as saying,

“When Avijatrik came to me, I was really pleased as the writing by Subhrajit da (Director Subhrajit Mitra) was absolutely phenomenal and pleasing to the eyes. There’s a great deal of responsibility whenever it’s anything to do with Satyajit Ray but I tend to thrive under pressure. He has been an important part of my childhood. As far as playing a father on-screen is concerned, I am a father myself and I have a great relationship with my father both on and off-screen and hence I believe I did my best to get the emotions right. Now waiting for the audience to see and give their important feedback once they see it in cinemas. But yes, I can say it loud and clear that Satyajit Ray is one of the finest directors in world cinema and he has been an important part of my childhood.”

‘Avijatrik’ also stars performing artists like Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Sreelekha Mitra, Ditipriya Roy, and other popular personalities from Bengal. What’s your take on Arjun’s statements folks? Let us know your views in the comments below and for more updates, stay tuned to IWMBuzz.com
