You do not really have to be a huge Twilight fan to know that Robert Pattinson despised both the novels and the films.

Stephenie Meyer’s 1st Twilight novel, published in 2005, became an instant worldwide phenomenon. Readers can never get enough of Bella Swan and vamp Edward Cullen’s love story. The movie adaptations are among the most successful movies of all time, and they helped make Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson household names.

Twilight wasn’t for everyone, and no one was more outspoken about their displeasure with the franchise than Robert.

Is it true that Robert used to despise movies? If you look at some of his previous interviews, the answer is, regrettably, yes. The why, on the other hand, is a little more tricky.

However, if you’ve watched one of the dozens of TikTok videos mocking some of the Twilight films’ cringe-worthy lines, acting, and special effects, you’ll know where some of his disappointment comes from.

According to what Robert said in the past regarding the Twilight movies, it’s not so much the movies themselves that he can’t bear, but the fandom that surrounds them that has had a long-term impact on his life. He told USA Today in 2019 that the fervor of fans during the franchise’s height of its popularity was what drove him off.

Now that he’s moving on from the films and his career has shifted to more serious parts, he can reflect back on Twilight with less contempt and more appreciation for what it did for him and how it has become ingrained in pop culture. There’s also the fact that the younger high school kids who used to ogle him are now grownups.

Although Robert and Kristen were unlikely to reunite for a Twilight reboot, he expressed support for the notion to Yahoo! in 2017. He joked about earning his own spin-off film when questioned about the prospect of a revival. Unfortunately for adult Twilight lovers everywhere, there don’t appear to be any plans for a reboot.
