Deepika Padukone entered Bollywood as Shanti Priya in the film ‘Om Shanti Om’ in 2007. From then on, the actress has come a long way and has established herself as one of the leading stars in Bollywood. She is also among the highest paid actresses in Bollywood. According to Vogue India reports, Deepika Padukone was not born in India but in Denmark and later moved to Bengaluru when she was 11 months old. She is the daughter of Prakash Padukone, a former badminton player and Ujjala Pakudone. The names of all the family members have the name meaning ‘light’. Before Deepika went on to become an actress, she was a successful model and has also appeared in a number of commercials.

According to Vogue, Deepika bagged the role of Shanti Priya when Farah Khan first spotted her in Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘Naam Hai tera’ video song and decided to cast her opposite Sharukh Khan in the movie and the rest is history. For the movie ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ Deepika learnt and mastered a Japanese Jujutsu and performed all the stunts by herself in the movie. The star first appeared in a Kannada language film titled ‘Aishwariya’ a year before she made her Bollywood debut. According to Vogue India reports, the actress’ favourite meal is South Indian food ‘rasam rice’ and she revealed that if it’s her last day on earth, that is the last meal she’d love to have.
