26/11 incident in Mumbai is regarded as one of the most horrifying incidents, and we have seen the photos, the grieving families, their stories, and how the terrorists kept Mumbai on the edge for three days. While we all know the story of the deadly incident in the past, Kangana Ranaut with Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata sheds light on the story of lives saved at the Cama and Albless hospital.
The film is inspired by an incident that took place at Mumbai’s Cama Hospital during the 2008 terror attacks. Manoj Tapadia mixes the real story with fiction to tell the story of the nurse Geeta Madhav, who was caught in the middle of the most horrifying night in her life. With additional emotional layers, characters, and changes, the makers attempt to tell the untold story. Amidst the messy plot, the film aims to clearly show the courage and dedication of those who choose to fulfill their duties even when terrorists attacked.
Why Bharat Bhhagya Vidhhaata stands out is the fact that the film doesn’t merely show the fear and the survival tension, but it acknowledges the efforts of nurses that often get undervalued and dismissed. The film tries to applaud them and bring them into the spotlight.
Starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead as Geeta Madhav, she keeps the story engaging. There were moments in the film that kept us on the edge. However, amidst the high tension, the film also captures the smiles and simple moments of nurses who, despite being in the most distressful situation, find a moment for themselves.
Kangana marks her return, portraying a real-life-inspired character. The film majorly holds on the shoulders of Kangana, and she gives her all to essay the fear, tension, confusion, and emotional peak with her expression, keeping viewers invested.
While Kangana Ranaut shines, the film centers on her character, leaving no chance for other characters to command attention, and this becomes both the film’s strength and its weakness.
Overall, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is a must-watch film that takes you back to the horrific night of 26/11, but this time to tell the story of nurses who showcased their unwavering courage woven in a deeply emotional and engaging narrative.
IWMBuzz rates Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata 3 out of 5 stars.
