What makes a romance drama worth watching? Well, it’s the ability of the story to make you feel involved with impressive storytelling, unexpected yet relatable twists, emotional depth, and satisfying sequences that keep the viewers invested. And produced by Dharma Productions, Chand Mera Dil ticks all the boxes with its compelling narrative.

Story

The film follows the life of Chandni, played by Ananya Panday, and Aarav, played by Lakshya, the college students who meet at a college in Hyderabad, and from this moment, their journey together begins. Their meeting soon turns into love and unexpectedly leads to trouble with an unplanned pregnancy. Like we usually see, Ananya wishes to keep the baby, which leads to the two getting married, and there comes a twist that one may not expect but will relate to. Their love soon turns into frustration, leading to physical violence, and what follows is best experienced when you watch it on the big screen.

Perfomances

Ananya as Chandni, a bright engineering student who is passionate in life but immature in love, plays the role well. She brings in emotional depth, softness, and sweet moments in the story. In contrast, Lakshya, as a college student, is a fierce, devoted, hopeless romantic. His presence feels fiery and charming. When he gets emotional on-screen, it connects and feels real. Together, Ananya and Lakshya subtly win hearts with their steamy chemistry in the intense and beautiful story.

What works in the film’s favor is the drama that follows the post-marriage and honeymoon phase. The moment conflicts erupt, the romance drama takes viewers on a ride with surprising twists and mind-blowing drama. And when love feels real and leaves a lasting emotional impact, the drama truly stands out.

Director Vivek Soni brings the emotional intensity of the scenes alive with perfect shots, and the way the storyline moves keeps viewers invested at every point. The music by Sachin–Jigar makes this musical drama worth watching. My personal favorite is Ishq Nibhaavan, which feels touching.

There were moments in the film that felt real and relatable, and what’s commendable is the sincerity Ananya and Lakshya portray them on-screen.

Overall, Chand Mera Dil wins with its strong performance and emotionally driven storyline and moments. The film is complicated, messy, yet soulful, but the physical violence towards his partner raises concerns. It is worth watching.
