No matter how many instalments come in after, nothing can still beat the 2004 flavour. Over the years, the franchise has built its own audience, and that’s what always makes the film return with its hilarity. This time, things went upside down—and as they steered the narrative as ‘reverse masti,’ it weaves around the men who are in doubt that their wives are having affairs, this time.
The instalments that earlier got the audience cracking up with its slapstick hilarity. The fourth instalment takes it a notch higher. The story centres on the usual three friends who can’t stand each other. However, they join hands to breathe fresh air into the monotony, and soon after, they end up in chaos, surrounded by criminals. And in this, they embark on a quest to uncover the truth about whether their wives are really having affairs, eventually giving the story its humorous shape.
The major hits in the film are its caricatures and the misunderstandings that slide in. Followed this, the cast we have. With the OG trio Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, and Riteish Deshmukh back in the action, the film becomes a full-blown laughter riot. Pushing the extra salt to the narrative, you see Nargis Fakhri, Arshad Warsi, and Tusshar Kapoor taking up the charisma—we are not breaking the entire bubble here, to experience the pelting laughter, you need to visit the theatre.
At times, you might feel the momentum being dragged out to give you a chuckle, but eventually it gets the drive. The film typifies adult humour in and out, and might not be a perfect watch for kids. Responsible storytelling might be called into question, but the onus always remains on us, for the franchise, by and large, has targeted viewers above 18.
Directed by Milap Milan Zavery, Mastiii 4 epitomises what we can call slapstick. It doesn’t demand too much of your grey; instead, it promises you a grand entertainer—watch it on the weekend to get rid of the deadline heatwave.
