Amid the high action and nostalgic comedy buzzing throughout the first half of 2026, Ohh My Dog serves as a breath of fresh air, telling a story that is neither too emotional nor action-packed. Rather, it is something that is rarely explored on a large scale, showcasing the pure bond a dog and human share. And if you are someone who loves dogs, this one is a gentle feel-good watch.
Two Parallel Tale Storyline
The storyline follows two parallel stories that focus on the bond between humans and dogs. The plot begins with a heartfelt farewell to Senapati, a brave police dog who dies. Then the story shifts to Bihar and Assam. In Assam, a young boy, Appu (Maahi Rai), loses his close friend, the beloved dog Momo. However, rather than feeling helpless, Appu begins searching for his pet, and in the pursuit, he discovers the dark world of dog smuggling.
Simultaneously, the second plot follows Prince (Nikhil Kumar), who suddenly disappears, leaving his loyal pet dog Oscar uneasy, and he embarks on uncovering the truth behind the owner’s disappearance. Pankaj Tripathi as Masterji joins the search, while Rajesh Kumar plays the police officer who investigates the matter. What follows is a deeply emotional tale that highlights the bond dogs share with humans and, at times, shows the dogs are better than humans when it comes to loyalty.
Direction
Amit Rai attempts to beautifully showcase the pure bond between humans and animals, woven into two different stories that run in parallel. The execution was decent, but it could have been better. However, the best part is that the film touched hearts, if not left a lasting impact, making it a gentle feel-good watch for the weekend.
Dialogue
For any film, dialogue plays a crucial part, and so it did in Ohh My Dog. The film relies on more emotional dialogue, and that very factor is what viewers connect with. However, the film didn’t try to grab attention with heavy or powerful dialogue; instead, it breathes through natural, family-friendly dialogue that worked quite well.
Music, Craft And More
The music and background score help the film elevate the experience. However, the film failed to reach the point of being an unforgettable tale, but it turns out to be a decent, light-hearted feel-good watch.
Acting Performances
The film’s main characters were the dogs, and they were just amazing. And that is why there is a phrase that says animals are better than humans. Momo and Oscar, with their innocence and emotions, added warmth to the story, while Maahi Rai as Appu was impressive. He blended well into the narrative and his character. Pankaj Tripathi as the Masterji delivered an effortless charm, bringing emotions, meaning, and strength to the story. Rajesh Kumar was good.
Overall, Ohh My Dog is a feel-good one-time watch that softly touches your heart, telling the tale that celebrates dogs’ loyalty and their pure bond with humans.
Ohh My Dog is produced by Amit Rai, Sana Warsi, and Rajesh Bhardwaj. It is backed by the production banners Babulal Biscope and Thinking Hats Entertainment Solutions. The film is set to release on August 7, 2026, while it was released today, August 6, 2026, as paid previews.
