Tamil Cinema has not seen successor actors doing great and bagging the same or more popularity when compared to their fathers/ mothers in the industry. Having said this, there has been a myriad of actors entering the Tamil Cinema circuit, following the path of their actor parents. However, not all in today’s generation have seen emphatic success!!

In simple words, a lot of younger generation actors have followed the paths of their celebrity parents. But, not many have turned a leaf and have attained as much and more stardom when compared to their celebrity parents.

Who better than Abhishek Bachchan, the son of Amitabh Bachchan to take as a prime example? Abhishek has been exploring varied genres of work, picking up challenging characters and even excelling in them, but he can never reach even half the calibre that Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan possesses.

Disproving this theory are the stars of the recently released Tamil film, Blue Star, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj and Prithvi Rajan.

In Tamil Cinema, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, the son of acclaimed actor, Producer and Director K Bhagyaraj, has waited all the while for his time to explode. Though he made his debut as a child actor with his father’s film Vettiya Madichu Kattu, and won the Filmfare Best South Male Debut Award for his film Sakkarakatti, he had certainly ‘not arrived’ as the perfect actor for all the while.

The same was the case with Prithvi Rajan, the son of ace actor Pandiyarajan. When Prithvi debuted with Kaivantha Kalai, he was compared to his father and praised for having the charisma and mannerisms of his actor father. Prithvi Rajan showed his presence with films Vaaimai, Kasada Thapara, Laabam etc, but no film took him to the cream of success.

But the time has changed for sure, for both Shanthnu Bhagyaraj and Prithvi Rajan with the astounding success that the P.A. Ranjith sports drama Blue Star has derived. The recent success party thrown for Blue Star spoke volumes of the potential that these young lads carried.

Shanthnu’s emotional posts showcased the success of Blue Star, saying, ‘Vetrinadai Podugiradhu’. His resilience and continued hard work as a performer have been a result of him seeing this huge dawn. Critics have collaborated in appreciating Shanthnu’s work as Rajesh in the film.

Prithvi Rajan’s portrayal as the younger sibling, Sam in Blue Star has been humungous. His dialogues are trending and he has witnessed some crazy appreciation coming from fans. For a lad known predominantly as the son of Pandiyarajan, Prithvi has finally come of age with this portrayal in Blue Star.

The huge success story of Blue Star is a testament to P.A. Ranjith’s belief in exploring caste politics to finesse through this sports drama. The reviews of Blue Star are extremely positive, and this success story will only mark the start of bigger greatness for the actors Shanthnu Bhagyaraj and Prithvi Rajan.

Truly, K. Bhagyaraj and Pandiyarajan must be proud fathers today, as this film allowed their sons to unleash their amazing talent!!
