The Emotions-driven Courtroom Plot
The story follows Yogesh Patil, played by Shreyas Talpade, a common man whose life shatters after he loses his seven-year-old daughter Pari, played by Trisha Sarda, to cancer. However, driven by the grief and the biggest loss, he starts looking for reasons that caused the cancer that killed his just 7-year-old daughter. And in the process, Yogesh delves into the harsh realities of excessive pesticide use and unchecked deadly chemical products that have led to shocking consequences, uncovering an alarming health crisis affecting countless rural families.
In his fight against pesticide-driven farming, advocate Archana, played by Kajal Aggarwal, becomes his biggest support, refusing to let the matter die, extending her unwavering support not just to fight for justice but to demand accountability for every citizen. Director Chettan presents this sensitive and emotion-driven narrative with conviction. He minutely focuses on every detail, making it relevant for the viewers, from a common man buying vegetables and fruits from the market, thinking it is healthy, to serving their children and family, to fighting for justice.
In the first half, the story moves slowly; however, in the second half, the screenplay carefully presents the big issue through courtroom drama, not with harsh attempts but through meticulous investigations, case reports, testimonies, and evidence. The cinematography is crisp, suiting the story and narrative.
The Biggest Strength
The India Story’s biggest strength was the way the storyline unfolded, not just leaving the audience concerned about what they consume but also spreading awareness. In today’s time, we often find fake products, including vegetables and dairy products; choosing the right place and product to buy has become crucial.
Performances
Shreyas Talpade never misses a chance to surprise and rule hearts. His performance as Yogesh is very touching and emotion-driven. With maturity, he portrayed the grief of the father while fighting for justice and a bigger cause. Kajal Aggarwal equally brings meaning and strength to the storyline. She performed her character of the advocate with sensitivity and confidence.
Verdict
The India Story may not be a new story to watch, but its powerful agenda and the way it has been presented make it a must-watch. The film is deeply emotional and will leave you with a social message that needs more awareness.
