Yash Raj Films (YRF) has officially confirmed that ‘Alpha’, the latest entry in its blockbuster Spy Universe, will release exclusively in theatres on July 10, 2026. The announcement quashes all speculation about a possible direct-to-OTT debut, with YRF reportedly turning down a massive ₹215 crore offer from Netflix to keep the film’s launch on the big screen.
The release of ‘Alpha’, originally planned for April 17 2026, was delayed because it needed additional time to complete its visual effects, and to avoid a clash with Battle of Galwan. Now, YRF has finally announced the release date for Alpha. Notably, Salman Khan’s ‘Battle of Galwan’—originally slated for a similar timeframe—has also been postponed and will now arrive on August 14, 2026.

The sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, ‘Alpha’, is its first female-led film, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. The star-studded cast of the film includes Anil Kapoor who plays a mentor and Bobby Deol who portrays the antagonist while Hrithik Roshan appears in a special cameo as Kabir to connect ‘Alpha’ with the franchise’s larger narrative.
Shiv Rawail, who previously directed the acclaimed film ‘The Railway Men’, will direct ‘Alpha’, which presents its franchise through its high-octane action and its fresh perspective. The new date for ‘Alpha’ allows the film to have a dedicated theatrical release window, while YRF chooses to focus on cinemas to provide audiences with an extraordinary and immersive viewing experience.
