There were reports some days ago that Yash Raj Films has given into the pressures of the Karni Seva—the same militant outfit that had persuaded Sanjay Leela Bhansali to change the title of Padmavati to Padmaavat—and has decided to change the title of Prithviraj to Samrat Prithviraj.
However just minutes ago, a source very close to the film who wished to remain unnamed informed me that the title won’t change.
“How much will our film industry succumb to these bullying tactics from militant outfits who have made protests against Hindi films a thriving cottage industry?We did consider changing the title. But then we saw nothing disrespectful in calling the film Prithviraj.Richard Attenborough called his film Gandhi, didn’t he? By not prefixing the title with ‘Mahatma’ did he mean any disrespect?” the source informs.
