Acting is challenging and being an actor is not easy. Content-driven quality cinema is beginning to dominate the scene which means the actors also have newer and challenging avenues to work with. With versatility and adaptability, actors need authenticity to truly move the audience with their performances. It is difficult for the actors who have a certain role to portray on-screen which requires them to indulge in some demanding transformation. You must have heard how actors actually did some drastic things in order to get into the skin of the characters. Today, we bring you the list of actors who went the extra mile for their roles.

Randeep Hooda: He is undoubtedly one of the most dedicated actors in Bollywood. He took his love for the craft a little too far for the film Sarabjit. Randeep was playing the titular character, who was wrongfully imprisoned in Pakistan for years. In order to look malnourished, the actor underwent an alarming transformation and lost more than eighteen kilos in just twenty-eight days. Needless to say, it took a serious toll on the actor’s health but did earn him a lot of praise for his dedication.

Bhumi Pednekar: For her role in Abhishek Chaubey’s Sonchiriya, the actress walked barefoot in her garden and then the streets of Mumbai for two months. Committing to playing a woman who does household chores barefoot in the 1970s authentically, Bhumi truly stunned us all with her performance.

Vidya Balan: The talented actress has always shown us her capabilities and proved her mettle as an actor. Whether it’s Kahaani or Bhool Bhulaiya, her acting and talent shined through the movies. For her portrayal of Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture, the actress gained 12kgs and rocked with her performance.

Ranveer Singh: He is an actor par excellence. Playing the role of Alauddin Khilji, in a particular scene, his character was slapped by Raza Murad’s Jalaluddin Khilji. To sell the slap and act effectively, Ranveer got slapped 24 times. That’s what we call commitment.

Rajkummar Rao: He is one of the most versatile actors of today. For his role as a man stuck in a Mumbai apartment for several days in the movie Trapped, the actor was on a strict diet of black coffee and 2 carrots a day only for 22 days. For another movie named Hamari Adhuri Kahani, the actor went 20 days without a shower for his role. The sequence Rajkummar had to shoot was very important to the film and the actor needed to look messy.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui: The actor played a serial killer in ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’. He apparently prepped for the role by getting holed up in a cheap hotel in Lonavala for almost a month. Nawazuddin later revealed that he got really scared of the kind of toll that film was taking on his mental health. The lines between right and wrong had apparently become blurring for him.
