Actress Lavanya Tripathi, a well-known name in South cinema, has taken legal action after allegedly being subjected to online harassment on social media. The actress, who is married to Telugu star Varun Tej, recently filed a complaint with the cybercrime authorities in Hyderabad against those accused of spreading abusive and defamatory content about her online.
As per the reports, Lavanya’s complaints mention the particular Instagram handle that has been abusing her and posting content aimed at defaming her. The actress shared that the account in question has been spreading false narratives, putting up false allegations, and making objectionable remarks not just about her but also about her family, which has caused major stress and also affected her image and reputation.
After Lavanya’s report, a case has been filed under Section 67 of the IT Act and Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, all of which relate to the crime committed online. Following the filing of the case, the cybercrime department has already begun an investigation and is working to trace the owner of the Instagram account using technical and digital methods.
On the work front, Lavanya is all set for her upcoming film Sathi Leelavathi.
