Geopolitical tension is on the rise. Talk about distractions? Wait till we get our hands on the ultimate distraction. First, it was the Beckham story; now, it is the Justin Baldoni. The stir is at its peak, with chatter about Taylor Swift and Blake Lively being unveiled, where the two friends have been secretly calling out Justin and his behaviour.
The revelation of private messages between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively has further complicated the legal feud already underway between Lively and her “It Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni. The court documents made public on January 20 reveal that the two Hollywood stars were in close contact and that they had decided to face Baldoni together during the production disputes and the harassment claims that followed.
The correspondence between the two actresses shows that Swift was Lively’s strong supporter in the latter’s struggle with Baldoni. In one of the messages sent in April 2023, Lively asked Swift to pretend she had read the revised script pages to persuade the actor-director to accept them, and Swift readily agreed. Additionally, Swift underscored her tactical importance, remarking that Baldoni should have kept her music out of the film’s trailer, since her role as an ally empowered Lively throughout the production.
The texts proved more striking after Lively accused Baldoni of harassment and filed a complaint in December 2024. Swift was quick to congratulate Lively, saying she had won and that what seemed like an instant cancellation had been turned around really fast. Earlier, she had described Baldoni’s claims in very strong terms after he spoke of his being sexually traumatized in a People magazine article, and she brushed his claims off with disdain.
Nevertheless, the legal dispute took a toll on the friendship. Swift mentioned that she felt estranged from Lively and was annoyed that her friend’s texts were no longer personal but sounded like messages sent to a large group by a corporation. Lively apologized, explaining that the lawsuit had caused her digital paranoia. The hearing is set for May 18, 2026, while Swift’s representatives continue to insist that she had no part in the creative process except for allowing her song to be used in the trailer.
