Desi girl Priyanka Chopra has always been an inspiration for women, not just in the entertainment world, but she keeps inspiring women, speaking loudly and clearly about women’s rights, demanding equal opportunities, space, understanding, pay parity, and more. And today, the beautiful Janhvi Kapoor expressed her opinion on privilege, highlighting that being a woman is the greater privilege she has.
In a recent conversation with journalist Barkha Dutt for We The Women, Janhvi poured her heart out, speaking clearly on privilege and more. Janhvi shared, “This conversation of privilege has been a big conversation in my whole life. And I was talking to someone about how you will always meet someone who’s more or less privileged than you. And with the way things are, I think people don’t realise what a privilege it is sometimes to be a man. You know it’s there’s so many things that are just taken for granted.”
Janhvi further highlights how privileged men are, saying, “No one says no to you for so much. You don’t have to think about when you go out at night. You don’t need to think about what you wear. You don’t need to think about did I say too much in this meeting, did U say too less, it has become a privilege that so many people are not even privy about we as women know the difference sometimes. So I think it starts with conversation, it starts with debate, it’s starts with being able to use your voice and encouraging people, you know, the generation ahead of you, to sort of be more aware about what being an equal actually means.”
Janhvi concluded, saying, “As a woman, I really think that we’re completely unstoppable. We just need to realise it a little bit more. And that truly is no bigger privilege than being a woman. We just need to start being treated the same way.”
Applauding Janhvi for starting the conversation on this, Priyanka penned a note saying, “It starts with a conversation, so here I go. Preach @janhvikapoor @barkha.dutt.”
