The Rajasthan Police has informed the High Court that it intends to close the cheating case registered against filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and two other members of his production team in connection with the upcoming film Love & War starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.

About The Cheating Case

Reportedly, the case had alleged cheating in connection with a film-related dispute. During the court proceedings, Justice Baljinder Singh Sandhu sent a petition on the July 17 hearing after the three accused quashed the FIR. The state counsel said the police stated that its investigation had not found sufficient evidence to support the allegations, leading it to prepare a closure report.

The High Court took note of the police’s submission, while the final decision will depend on the competent court accepting the closure report, following due legal procedure. The court also dismissed Bhansali’s quashing petition because the police were already independently filing a closure report.

A Bikaner-based line producer, Prateek Raj Mathur, filed the case over a logistical payment dispute of around 2 lakh during preliminary location scouting in Rajasthan.

The case filed on September 1, 2025, at the Bichhwal Police Station in Bikaner has remained under discussion. If the closure report is accepted, it will bring an end to the legal proceedings in the matter, offering significant relief to the acclaimed filmmaker and the other individuals named in the complaint.
