Suneel Darshan, the well-known writer and director, in a recent conversation made unfiltered revelations about the film industry. During his honest confessions, he opened up about wanting Karisma Kapoor for his 2000 film Mela, which he wrote. Suneel shared that he felt Twinkle wasn’t capable enough for the role, which Dharmesh Darshan directed.
Suneel believes that if Karisma Kapoor had been cast in the role of Roopa Singh, the dramatic action Mela would have been more successful. He even mentioned feeling disappointed and disrespected by the comments Twinkle made in the media.
During a conversation with Hindi Rush, when the host asked his opinion on wanting Karisma and Twinkle being the wrong cast and if there was a different shoot done for the same, Suneel said, “No, the story in Mela was mine. However, there were chances made in the original story that I saw a few days before the release, and I felt that if those chances had not been made, the film would have been a super hit because the original story was very strong.”
Further, he added, “The fear I had was that the heroine (Twinkle Khanna), who was cast, may not be capable enough for the role.”
Opening up on Twinkle’s problematic statements, Suneel said, “After that, I felt very sad with a few things that Twinkle said in the media, which was not very dignified. Because if one has to say something, then for what you have said, one can say 10 to 100 more things.”
Suneel said that one should forget these things because in the film industry one has to keep respect too.
Further, Suneel also mentioned that if Karisma Kapoor had been in the role of Roopa, the film would have become a super hit, and Twinkle was not the right choice; however, it was the director’s decision, and he had nothing to do with it.
