Veteran playback singer Jamuna Rani is no more. The popular singer passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Bengaluru after battling age-related ailments. At the time of her demise, she was 88 years old. However, the news circulated online mainly on July 31, 2026.
Reportedly, the funeral rites of legendary South Indian playback singer K Jamuna Rani took place at Jeevanhalli crematorium near Cock Stone in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Friday, July 31, 2026, in the afternoon. The late singer was surrounded by her family and friends during the last rites.
About Jamuna Rani
Jamuna, belonging to Andhra Pradesh, was born in May 1938. She developed an interest in singing at a very young age. The singer’s father was a private employee, and her mother was a veena player. Growing up in a musical household, Jamuna stepped into the film industry at a very young age of just 7. She began her journey singing for child actors in the movie Thyagayya. By the age of 13, she had already become a well-known name and started getting chances to sing as a playback singer.
Jamuna recorded over 6,000 songs across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and even Sinhalese films during the golden era of cinema. She has given hits like Kunguma Poove Konjum Purave, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Aasaiyum En Nesamum, and others. In her personal life, she remained unmarried all her life to dedicate herself fully to her music career.
