Vidhu Vinod Chopra and his co-producers Zee Studios have a lot to celebrate, and in fact there are plans for a huge celebratory bash for the success of 12th Film. A modestly budgeted story of the will to excel against all odds, the film showed a leap of 140 percent on Day 2.

On Sunday there is a leap of an added 20 percent.

This makes 12th Fail an impressively profitable venture.

Roshan Singh a prominent cinema exhibitor in Bihar says the growth of 12th Fail over the weekend is miraculous. “It has no stars. Vikrant Massey is not known in these parts although he has done some noteworthy work on OTT. In cinema he is almost unrecognizable. I think that is one of the factors that has helped 12th Fail. The actors are unknown and they are easily acceptable to the audience as the characters they play.”

Roshan sees a further growth in the collections of 12th Fail in the coming days. “There is nothing important releasing this coming Friday. So the word of mouth for 12th Fail would help its growth.”

Zee Studios who backed 12th Fail all the way,had two remarkable successes earlier this year: the Rani Mukerji melodrama Mrs Chatterjee Versus Norway and the pseudo-historic Gadar 2.

Interestingly all the three successes of Zee Studios are inspiring motivational reformist cinema.

Zee now plans to compound this , their landmark year of success with more modestly budgeted content-driven cinema. On the anvil is the third part of the Gadar franchise and a forward look at the life of the will-driven protagonist in 12th Fail.
