Because it’s 2022, and we’re sick of reading body-shaming comments, let’s state the obvious: body-shaming is never okay. Nobody is “too big,” “too tiny,” or “in the middle.” Bodies are lovely things: they carry you around every day and even contain new life. We’re baffled as to how individuals can humiliate any type of body: pregnant bodies, post-pregnancy bodies, bodies that have gained weight, bodies that have lost weight, but you name it, and the trolls have done it.

Celebrities are constantly scrutinized, and unfortunately, most of that scrutiny is focused on their bodies. Stars like Kim Kardashian, Kate Winslet, Simone Biles, and, most recently, Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey have all spoken out about the body-shaming comments they’ve received and their stories will make you even more motivated to halt the trend in 2022. Of course, even if it doesn’t always feel like it, progress has been achieved in recent decades. Many of those features have been replaced with love letters to the female form and an unabashed embrace of features like stretch marks, rolls, or curves that could have been considered “flaws” in the past.

Even when progress is made, celebrities in the public eye today still face criticism from people who believe there is a “proper” and “wrong” way to look at one’s body and that they don’t deserve it. We adore seeing our favorite celebrity ladies, from Adele to Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Rebel Wilson, and others, calling out body-shaming bullies left and right. Below are some more celebrities that have spoken out against body shaming and embraced their bodies.
