Creating a massive wave of excitement across the internet, the recently unveiled trailer of Awarapan 2 has been receiving an overwhelming response. Breaking the internet with an impressive 57.5 million views on the Vishesh Films YouTube channel and trending at the No. 3 position, the trailer has struck a powerful emotional chord with audiences. Packed with nostalgia and emotion, it has won over fans, critics, and the film fraternity alike. As anticipation continues to build for the film’s release, filmmaker Mohit Suri, who directed the cult classic Awarapan (2007), has shared an emotional note expressing how deeply personal the franchise remains to him.
Taking to social media, Mohit Suri reflected on revisiting the world of Awarapan nearly two decades later. Calling it “a long-lost love” and “an old friend you haven’t met in years but still deeply miss,” the filmmaker admitted that watching the trailer brought back a flood of memories.
He wrote, “This one feels special. Like a long-lost love, like an old friend you haven’t met in years but still deeply miss. 19 years later, and this movie still matters so much to me.”
Mohit went on to congratulate director Nitin Kakkar for carrying forward a story that has remained close to his heart. “Thank you, @nitinrkakkar, for bringing back something that is so close to my heart and for doing it with so much love, flourish, sensitivity and heart.”
He further added, “To everyone who has worked on this film – most of you l know, have worked with before, and will continue to work with – you’ve done such a brilliant job. The musical identity of Awarapan 2 is as layered as its story. The album features compositions by Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Malik, Ankit Sachdev and Wasif Ahmad, with lyrics by Sayeed Qadri, Rashmi Virag, Akhil Sachdeva and Sachin Singh Chandel.
