At the grand pre-release event of Kuberaa, held in Hyderabad, National Award-winning filmmaker Sekhar Kammula delivered a heartfelt address, calling the film his most emotionally resonant work yet. The director likened Kuberaa to “a mother’s love,” emphasizing the universality and depth of emotion the film promises to deliver.
“This film, Kuberaa, is like a mother to me—a mother’s love for a beggar or a millionaire is the same. That’s the essence of this story,” Kammula said. “This is the first time I can say with full confidence—Saraswati Devi’s head is held high. The film will make you laugh, feel the thrill, and even cry. It’s a fresh theatrical experience.”
Speaking about his lead cast, Kammula shared personal anecdotes and praises. On working with veteran actor Nagarjuna, he said,
“I remember meeting Nagarjuna garu while he was shooting in his home. I even took a small autograph back then. Today, his energy still lights up a set. He brings confidence with his presence.”
Addressing Rashmika Mandanna, the director called her “a rare blend of inner and outer authenticity.”
“I’ve worked with many actors, but Rashmika, you are the same inside and outside. The kindness and balance you carry—please keep that spirit alive. It reflects on-screen and off.”
Kammula saved his highest praise for Dhanush, calling him the “pride of Indian cinema.”
“Dhanush is one actor who can do anything. I once told him, half-jokingly, that this character should shrink—and the next thing I knew, he actually internalized that direction and transformed. The very first shot of Kuberaa with him—of Amma—is among the best I’ve ever filmed.”
Backed by a dream ensemble of Nagarjuna, Dhanush, and Rashmika, and scored by musical maestro Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), Kuberaa is poised to redefine emotional storytelling on a pan-India scale. The film is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd, co-produced by Vipul Agarwal and Manish Vasisth. Mugafi serves as the North India presenter and is also spearheading distribution across the region.
Releasing in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi, Kuberaa hits screens worldwide on June 20, 2025.
