After meeting on the set of Passions, the couple began dating in 2003 and were engaged the following year. The co-stars married in May 2014 and had their daughter, Isabella, a month later.
The Exchange actor preferred to keep his personal life secret at the time, and the couple divorced in 2012 after eight years of marriage. Following their breakup, Hartley moved on with Chrishell Stause, whom he met through a mutual acquaintance in 2013.
After three years of dating, the pair became engaged in August 2016, and Hartley raved about how excited he was for the next stage in their relationship.

US verified that Hartley filed for divorce from Stause in November 2019, two years after their wedding. Us revealed in May that the SAG Award winner was dating Sofia Pernas. Following their appearance at the MTV Movie & TV Awards in May 2021, they were pictured wearing similar rings.
Despite the fact that Hartley and Pernas first met on set in 2015, the Mistresses star believes it is significant that they have reconnected.
