Sara Ali Khan opened up about her experiences while portraying the role of Rinku in the film Atrangi Re along with Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in an interview with India Today.

When asked, “Did you have a real breakdown during any of the scenes in Atrangi Re, given the deep and dark places your character goes to?”, she said, “I think in every scene when Rinku was crying, I actually crying too. I don’t know if that should be the approach, but I was really crying. The train sequence was one of the trickiest to shoot. She is having flashbacks in her mind and she cannot see anything in front of her. It is not that you are reacting to a co-actor. There is so much VFX and so much flashback and Aanandji has done so much with that portion. It is not like an ordinary scene where I am reacting to a co-actor. So, I think at that moment, especially understanding Rinku’s state of mind, feeling what she was feeling, I just gave in and I kept crying for 30 minutes or so. I still remember that day so clearly. Delhi Station, climax shoot, I cried a lot.”

Further adding on her parent’s reactions to it, she said, “Honestly, Atrangi Re is not a good film to ask this question because they have both been very nice. I think mom is very emotional and will always be. And, my father is a very strong and sophisticated gentleman. But I do know that I have made both mom and dad cry. It is weird to feel that sense of accomplishment that your parents are proud of you. And more than that, even my brother Ibrahim’s reaction. Our equation is about playing around and we keep kidding with each other – from college until now, I am his golu molu sister. But now, he is saying that he is proud of me or that’s my sister, my and he is telling this to others too. So, I feel very happy.” as quoted by India Today.
