Even the fiercest turmoil craves a moment of respite. In any kind of storm, solace is essential. The song “Main Hoon” from Battle of Galwan, featuring Salman Khan and Chitrangada, tempers the chaos of conflict and the looming devastation at the borders—showcasing the aching yearning of families separated by duty, while their loved ones stand resolute at the war frontlines.
Main Hoon, from Battle of Galwan, sounds a melodic breather amid the tense situation on the battlefield. The song, released on 14th Feb, got all of us enamoured of its breezy, soft moments.
The song has a familial warmth. We find the chemistry enticing. With the voices of Shreya Ghoshal & Ayaan Lall, it is a feel-good moment. What we liked are the seamless transitions between: one moment, we see Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu MVC amidst the intensity of the battlefield; the next, we are immersed in his tender, everyday joys—driving with his family, basking by a bonfire, playing his guitar. Chitrangada, as the Colonel’s wife, inhabits these shared memories, making her presence a bridge between home and the battlefield.
Helmed by Apoorva Lakhia, Battle of Galwan is based on the 2020 border clash in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley. The narrative depicts June 15th 2020, a conflict when the Indian soldiers led by Colonel B. Santosh Babu defended the territory against the Chinese forces without using firearms. The film spotlights the visceral, hand-to-hand combat fought with sticks and stones, paying solemn tribute to the twenty Indian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the harrowing skirmish.
Battle of Galwan is produced by Salma Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films. The film is all set to release on 14th August, 2026, aligning with the Independence Day weekend.
