Amit Trivedi is the only modern composer who can compete with A R Rahman, the musical God. His diversity is well-known; his work includes everything from aggressive rock to real classical, honey-soaked melodies, unique fusion, and just plain wonderful music. At the age of 20, he began writing music. He has made jingles, background scores for plays and television shows, a one-off orchestra, and a local performance. His career was uneventful, with the exception of the occasional music company contracting him for non-film records.

Let us have a look at some of the best songs as he celebrates a decade in the industry.

Naav(Udaan)

What is really a traditional folk song is gradually turned on its head by Amit injecting rock beats and drums, and the end result is equivalent to being blindfolded on a rollercoaster, making the journey that much more unpredictable and exhilarating!

Pareshan(Ishaqzaade)

Shalmali Kholgade’s instantly captivating solo tune moves between a laid-back melody and racy percussion. This song stands out because of the pace changes that occur at regular intervals. Amit Trivedi’s creativity shines through as he tinkers with the voices and beats, creating an unusual but entertaining listen.

Manja(Kai Po Che)

Trivedi adds a masterstroke with intermittent beats that echo gently in your ears to this brilliantly constructed tune that is overflowing with authentic instrumentation. It’s a basic effect, but it’s magnificent. With this, you can enjoy the flavors of rural India.

Aga Bai(Aiyyaa)

Shalmali Kholgade and Monali Thakur sing Aga bai, which is mixed with traditional and western instrumentation. It begins as a bhajan and quickly transitions into a fast-paced disco tune. The song maintains the Maharashtrian flavor of the film while incorporating international elements to create a delightful mishmash.

London Thumakda(Queen)

This song, sung by Labh Janjua, Sonu Kakkar, and Neha Kakkar, has a distinct Punjabi flavor. This is a wedding song with a very traditional feel to it. It gets a much-needed thud from Amit Trivedi’s wonderful beats.

Gal Mithi Mithi Bol(Aisha)

And while Tochi Raina’s song starts off simple, a massive shot of bass hits a minute in, and we realize Trivedi is breaking club-Punjabi traditions without showing off. This one is really worth listening to again and again.

Meethi Boliyan(Kai Po Che)

Wow, you’ll want to listen to this song over and over again! Simply close your eyes and hold your hands out to your sides as if you were flying, and let “Meethi Boliyan” whisk you up and away on a lovely path to joy; this is a beautiful effort!

Ikk Kudi (Udta Punjab)

“Ikk Kudi,” composed by Shahid Mallya, opens with a mellifluous guitar riff before transitioning into a wonderful mellow melody that is evocative of Amit Trivedi.

Zinda(Lootera)

This song showcases the best of Amit Trivedi’s playback vocals. Zinda is clear and sad, untangling the tragedy of life. It almost makes you feel the minor pangs of life, but the melancholy atmosphere it creates does not overshadow its natural beauty.

Iktara(Wake Up Sid)

Amit Trivedi composed this timeless classic as a guest composer for Wake Up Sid.
