Shocking news surfaced this morning: former athlete, Indian Olympic Association president, and Rajya Sabha MP PT Usha’s husband, Vengalil Sreenivasan, passed away in the early hours of Friday, January 30, 2026. At the time of his demise, he was 63 years old.
According to the reports, Usha’s husband, Vengalil, suddenly collapsed at his residence in Perumalpuram, Thikkodi, around 12.30 am. Instantly, he was rushed to a private hospital, and there the doctors declared him dead.
Vengalil Sreenivasan was a former central government employee who always stood by Usha’s side throughout her sporting and political career. He was also referred to as the pillar of support and driving force behind Usha’s successful career and life.
Sreenivasan was a native of Ponnani and had been living with his family in Kerala. Sreenivasan was survived by his wife, PT Usha, and son, Vignesh Ujjwal.
As soon as India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi learned of this, he spoke to PT Usha, offering his condolences on the passing of her beloved husband.
