Team India’s squad for the upcoming Afghanistan T20I series has been announced, with the Men’s Selection Committee naming a 16-member group for the three-match contest.
Shreyas Iyer will lead the side, while Tilak Varma has been appointed vice-captain. The squad features a mix of established names and young talents, including Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan have been included as wicketkeeper options.
The batting and all-rounder group also includes Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. In the spin department, India have selected Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi.
The pace attack will see the return of Jasprit Bumrah alongside Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana. However, Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana are all marked as subject to fitness clearance.

The three-match T20I series will be played entirely in New Delhi, beginning September 13. The second T20I will take place on September 15, followed by the third and final match on September 17.
With Iyer taking charge and a blend of experience and emerging talent in the squad, the Afghanistan series will give Team India another opportunity to test its T20I combination ahead of the busy international season.
