On Monday, May 18, turned out to be the big moment for MS Dhoni fans as the cricketer arrived at the Chepauk after his calf strain restrained him from joining on the field throughout. However, the day turned out to be a bitter one for the team as Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 5 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, and with this, the team has created a major hurdle in their aspiration to qualify for the Playoffs.

With the CSK teammates, Dhoni took a slow lap of honour around the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai this is because it was the franchise’s last home ground IPL 2026 match. Talking about Dhoni, the former India skipper and CSK former captain has not played a single game for the team in IPL 2026 because of his calf strain, followed by a thumb injury ahead of the match.

As per the new reports, MS Dhoni won’t be traveling to Ahmedabad for CSK’s final league match against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, May 21. And this means the cricketer might miss the entire IPL 2026, leading fans to speculate whether the CSK legend will retire from the Indian Premier League just months before his 45th birthday.

Dhoni’s CSK teammate and former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina made big revelations on Dhoni’s retirement. He revealed that IPL 2026 doesn’t look like a proper farewell year.

Suresh said, “I told him, ‘You have given IPL 2026 a missed call. It won’t count. You have to come back next year’. He said ‘nahi yaar, body thoda waisa hai (my body is a little weak)’. I said ‘we are not believing anything. You have to play next year’. It’s his personal call. I think he is positive. The team is also gelling well again.”

He further assured that Dhoni will come back in 2027, saying, “Fans also want you to come. He said ‘let me see’. If he says let me see, there’s a chance he will work hard, and play again.”
