Deepti Sharma is an Indian women’s cricketer who represents her country at the international level. She is a left-handed all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm off break, and she is presently placed 4th in the ICC Cricket Rankings for all-rounders. Deepti Sharma is now the third greatest individual scorer by a female cricketer in one-day internationals (188 runs).
In 2014, Deepti Sharma made her ODI International debut in Bengaluru against South Africa. The match was part of the International Cricket Council’s Women’s Championship.
Against the final day of the one-off Test in Bristol, Sharma produced her maiden Test half-century and helped India reduce the gap on England Women. With a pull behind square for a single, the left-hander reached 50 off 157 balls. She hit seven boundaries on her way to a half-century. Sophie Ecclestone, however, broke the 72-run stand when she took Deepti’s wicket for a 168-ball 54 at the stroke of lunch. Deepti’s spot in the national team has never been in doubt since, and she already had plenty of special records under her belt before she turned 20. Deepti’s primary skills would be as an off-break bowler, a gritty batter, and an agile fielder, but if you overlooked her situation-assessing abilities, beware; she has all the potential in the world to become one of the best in the business and, perhaps, someday, to captain the Indian team.
It was the first time ever that the Indian women’s team played their pink-ball tests against Australia in a four-day test that ended up in a draw.
