Ishan Kishan is an Indian player who represents India on an International level and Jharkhand in domestic cricket and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

Mumbai Indians bought Ishan Kishan at a huge price of 15.25 crores in the 2022 mega auction. He has been struggling to justify his price. Kishan has scored 321 runs in 11 games in IPL 2022. The wicketkeeper-batsman has an average of 32.10 in ten games and a strike rate of 117.15. His highest score this season is 81 not out against Delhi Capitals.

He scored 54 runs against Rajasthan Royals but since then he has been struggling with his bat. His performances since then are 14, 26, 3, 13, 0, 8, 26, 45, 51.

Ishan’s form is not only a concern for the franchise but also for the Indian Cricket Team. A number of star cricketers have pointed out the need for him to get back in his form.

The former IPL player Daniel Vettori expressed his views on Ishan’s future with the team. Vettori stated, “The simplest way is to move him down the batting order. But it has to be about what they plan for the next year and if they see him as part of the team for next year as an opening batter, and they think that he can bounce back as he has in the past, then I think they have to continue with him because being an opening batter and a wicketkeeper is so important for the balance of their line-up.” He further added, “I think Pollard and Tim David could form a lethal combination at the back-end of the innings.”
