When Rahul struck against Shoriful in the penultimate Super 12 game, India had just reached 52 runs off their first eight overs and was rolling. The opener has recently struggled with his form, scoring just three runs in India’s opening T20 World Cup matches, but he was at his best against Bangladesh in Adelaide.

Rahul picked up the ball from outside the off stump and, with a flick of his wrists, powerfully pulled it over the point boundary after firmly placing his feet in the crease. The opener held the pose to admire his work as the ball soared deep into the stands, making it appear effortless.

He showed his skill as a batter by tossing the ball behind the ropes with such ease. KL and Virat Kohli were both in full attack mode in the ninth over of the Indian innings, which was bowled by Shoriful Islam. The pair scored 24 runs in that over. With the help of two back-to-back sixes and one four, KL made 17 of the 24. When KL hit Islam for a big six, Kohli, who was watching the power-hitting performance from the non-striker’s perspective, was stunned. His response to the big hit quickly went viral online.

In India’s final score of 184-6, Rahul was eventually dismissed after scoring fifty off 32 balls.
