How did this role of Khyati Kothari come to you? Why did you opt to start doing motherly roles?

When I heard the brief, I found Khyati Kothari to be a layered character. I believe that as an actor, one should never be limited by age or labels. If a role is challenging and gives me scope to perform, I am more than happy to take it up. Also, being part of such a great show was itself a huge opportunity.

How is it to be part of the legacy named Anupamaa?

Anupamaa has become more than just a show, it’s a journey that relates to so many women. Being a part of such a massive success, where every character has depth and meaning, is truly an honour. The love and appreciation the show receives from the audience make it even more special.

If the industry sees your potential, you will always get the right opportunities.

Will the audience see a graph with Khyati’s character? What is it that you like the most in her?

Yes, absolutely! Khyati is not a one-dimensional character. There’s an arc to her journey, and the audience will get to see various shades of her personality as the story progresses. What I love about Khyati is her emotional depth; she’s a woman with responsibilities who does everything for her family and loves her son and husband a lot.

Once you show the world that you can do an elderly role, roles that are of your age do not come always. What is your take on it?

I believe that an actor should not be boxed into categories. My goal has always been to play meaningful characters, regardless of their age. Many actors have played older roles and then seamlessly transitioned into different roles. If the industry sees your potential, you will always get the right opportunities.

Have you had a conversation with Rajanji? How did it go?

How is it to work with senior actors like Rahil Azam, Alka Kaushal, Rupali Ganguly, etc.?

It’s an enriching experience! Each of them brings so much to the table, and working alongside such seasoned actors is always a learning process. Their dedication, spontaneity, and camaraderie make the atmosphere on set very comfortable and motivating.

What do you think is the main reason for Anupamaa’s continued success?

The biggest reason is the relatability of the story. Anupamaa touches upon real emotions, real struggles, and real victories. The audience connects deeply with the characters because they see reflections of their own lives in them. Also, the strong performances and the fresh storytelling keep the viewers engaged.

What are your expectations in the role?
