Aishwarya Sakhuja is enjoying her negative avatar in Star Plus show, Yeh Hai Chahatein.

Says the actress, “It is good to play more human characters after essaying the prototype good bahu (Saas Bina Sasural and Trideviyaan). In Yeh Hai Chahatein, Ahana is super evil. Had I pulled such stunts in my real life, I would have

been ejected out by my family long back, but here she gets away with ease.”

What made you shift to negative roles?

“I have always been offered vampish characters due to my glam image and also the fact that I don’t have the quintessential bahu face.”

“One of the main reasons for saying yes to this spin-off of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein was my faith in Balaji Telefilms, that at no time will my character ever lose prominence.”

Here she makes a frank admission. “At first, I did find the OTT bit too much, but then I guess this is how TV vamp format works. Guys, it is not easy to get those expressions and required loud body language. It was tougher for me after being

used to a subtle form of performance.”

“I guess negative characters are written only to make the life of the leads hellish,” adds she for good measure.

Ask her about co-stars Abrar Qazi and Sargun Kaur, Aishwarya says, “He reminds me of my debut days; just like me, he too is very eager to learn and feels very bad when mistakes happen.”

“Sargun on the other hand, is also a talented artist. But since I have not shot too much with her, I will not want to comment on her yet.”

Here Aishwarya smartly refuses to comment on the numbers of Yeh Hai Chahatein, which though being decent are not great either, “I have never bothered about ratings.”

Looking ahead, after her film Ujda Chaman, she is open to more cine and web roles. “Ujda got great digital traction.”

“As for the bold web, I don’t mind doing the same, but those scenes need to treated with dignity e.g. what Zoya Akhtar did in Made in Heaven.”

“I am open to more reality shows if the concept interests me,” ends Aishwarya who has also done Nach Baliye and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7.

Best of luck, Aishwarya!!
