Kavita Banerjee the talented and good-looking actress who is presently seen in the Zee TV show Teri Meri Ikk Jindri (LSD Films) in a lead negative role along with Manoj Chandila is happy that she got a really good break in Hindi TV with the show.

Says Kavita who is basically from Kolkata, “I was in Kolkata when I started my modeling projects. Even though I wanted to be part of Bengali work, lish accent while speaking Bengali gave me less chance. However, my first work happened for the same reason, as there was a problem with the diction. After a TV shows, things worked in my favor. I got another project. Later I moved to Mumbai.”

Kavita was working in ITC Grand Central, Parel as she felt that she needed good financial backing. After two years in the job, she found it tough to find time for auditions. “After quitting the job, I worked on a couple of web projects. I got into a company again, which later went bankrupt owing to the lockdown,” she adds.

Kavita got a big project, a web series of Kunal Kohli which will be Lionsgate Play’s first Indian original series titled Project 23. She also shot for a big-budget film which will release next year.

Simultaneously, Kavita got Teri Meri Ikk Jindri wherein she entered in the role of Chanda, sister of Pappu (Manoj Chandila). Talking about Chanda, Kavita shares, “The journey has been wonderful so far. My role started a bit late. Chanda was initially to have only a grey shade. But guess people liked me so much in a negative role, that more layers were added to the character. Chanda has been very challenging as I am poles apart in real life from Chanda. The production and actors working with me are amazing.”

Ask Kavita about what she likes about Chanda, and she is quick to say, “I like her determination. Her determination to the extent of being stubborn to get what she wants is really good. Of course, that stems from the fact that she loves her brother and loves Arjun too. She has strong emotions in a way.”

“This is my first work on Hindi TV. So I am definitely blessed to start up my TV career with a character as promising as Chanda. I could not have asked for a better role to start my TV career. There is a lot to explore actually when it comes to a negative shade,” she explains.

Ask her about the kind of roles that attract her, Kavita is clear when she says, “I am fascinated towards roles which are very much unlike me in real life. If someone asks me to do a role very similar to Kavita, I will not be happy, as I will be playing myself. Recently, I played a lesbian girl in a dramedy, which was very different. Where there is a challenge, there is excitement.”

On the thought of being typecast for negative roles, Kavita explains, “Thankfully, in the era, I am in, I think that will not happen. There is so much to do. The web has developed so much that even if I am playing a negative here, and I get to play different shades in a web project, people watch both of it. I don’t believe in the word typecast. Take, for example, Hina Khan. She was doing Akshara in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and then she went on to play a role like Komolika in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. So see her graph as an actor. So I don’t think an actor needs to feat of being typecast.”

Kavita is very much a game for web projects. “I started off with web, and I am game for more web.”

Best of luck!!
