Film and TV actor Gurmeet Choudhary is very happy that all his three fiction shows are airing during the lockdown

“After Ramayan and Punar Vivaah (Zee Anmol), comes the news that Shemaroo TV is also going to re-air my favourite show Geet Hui Sabse Parayi which has made me who I am today. Geet was a prototype show, which not only set the benchmark for angry young man on TV, but also showed how passion can be added to small screen romance. Interesting it is, in Ramayan, the lord was always calm, but my Geet character, Mann Singh Khurana was a guy who did not like a girl yet flipped for her. The romance was so intense that even now creative uses it as a reference point for their love scenes,” adds Gurmeet who has also done top-notch nonfiction shows such as Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa etc

He further says, “Geet enjoyed phenomenal success not only in India but worldwide as well (Indonesia, Europe and Africa). I am very thankful for my fans for showering so much love and affection on the entire unit.”

For the moment, Guru, as Gurmeet is called by friends, has a Zee Studio produced film The Wife, Till Death Do Us Part, up his sleeve.

“With 50% shoot done, we had hoped to release by Diwali but COVID -19 has put paid to all plans. I have lot of hope from this film for it has a great story. The lead girl opposite me is new. “Till now fan would crib that I was never part of solo flicks.”

He has no qualms about his early films Wajah Tum Ho, Paltan and Khamoshiyan not doing well.

“I have always believed in the old adage of slow and steady wins the race. I still remember doing bit roles in TV before Ramayan came along. My best is yet to come, so watch out for it. Also the above film allowed me to work with big names (Mahesh Bhatt and Prakash Jha etc).

What did the past four years in cinema teach you? “How to battle the Friday jitters, it would take me back to school result days. But now I have learnt to be less emotional, just do your best and move on.”

Apart from films, he is also game for web series. “But it needs to have really kickass script. The best part of web is its huge reach. Today, while no new films and TV shows are releasing, web continues to see new launches every other day.”
