Viraj Kapoor, who enthralled one and all in the wily role of Nagarjuna in Sony Entertainment Television‘s historical show Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan (Contiloe Pictures), is happy with the outcome of his first-ever role in the historical genre. In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Viraj takes us through his experience and talks about his future in the industry.

Says Viraj, “It was my first in the historical genre. I have done commercial social shows earlier. I have played the role of Krishna, but it was not a historical show. For the role of Nagarjuna, I had to work a lot on my diction and dialect. It was a challenge for sure. I had to prepare a lot for the role, and I am happy that I gave it all.”

Viraj recounts the experience of working with the thespian actor Ronit Roy as his biggest takeaway from the show. “Working with Mr Ronit Roy was great fun. He is a supportive actor. He is a huge name, and working with him made me nervous initially. But when he made me comfortable, the nerves settled down.”

I have now reached an age where I can slowly take the plunge from being a child actor to playing lead roles. I want to play a sophisticated lead who is positive.

On the huge sequence where his character killed Someshwar Chauhan, played by Ronit, Viraj states, “Shooting the killing sequences was great fun. The show’s biggest twist was on me. I received support from my co-actors as well as the crew.”

Ask him what he would like to play next, and Viraj is quick to say, “This is my 14th show. I have played a lot of characters, and I have been here from a very early age. I have now reached an age where I can slowly take the plunge from being a child actor to playing lead roles. I want to play a sophisticated lead who is positive. I have prepared myself for the plunge. I believe I will achieve it soon.”

Best of luck, Viraj!!
