The plot of Star Plus’ Mr & Mrs Parshuram (Blues Production) has reached a fever pitch, treating viewers to high-voltage drama and a massive shake-up in character dynamics. Leading man Neil Bhatt, who plays Shiv aka Parshuram, opens up about the emotional demands of the current track, sharing screen space with Shambhavi Singh, and how he navigates the unpredictable nature of daily soap ratings.

The ongoing story plot is emotionally packed with Shalini (Shambhavi Singh) believing that Shiv is dead, while Shiv believes that Shalini shot him. Revealing how he and co-star Shambhavi Singh tackled the heavy narrative, Neil shares, “These scenes demanded a lot emotionally, so Shambhavi and I made sure we understood what our characters were going through before every take. Once we got into that headspace, we just trusted each other as performers and let the emotions come naturally.”

With the storyline testing his character’s resilience, Shiv faces an uphill battle to uncover the truth. For Neil, the focus remains entirely on anchoring the performance in genuine human connection rather than just surface-level drama. “For Shiv, this isn’t just about finding the truth,” Neil explains. “It’s about holding on to his family while everything around him is falling apart. As an actor, I’m trying to stay true to his emotional journey because I think that’s what will connect with the audience the most.”

I believe that when the story connects, the audience always responds.

While the show recently introduced a time shift, it also experienced a sudden dip in TRPs. But all of this doesn’t shake Neil’s commitment to his craft. Maintaining a grounded, artistic perspective, he asserts, “I’ve never bothered myself over ratings. I’m an artist, and I have no control over the creative aspect of the show or the executive decisions regarding the show. Ratings are definitely important because they reflect how the show is being received, but they aren’t something I can control. My job is to stay honest to the character and give every scene my best. I believe that when the story connects, the audience always responds.”

Playing Shiv allows Neil to flex different acting muscles. When asked whether he prefers the warm, light-hearted moments or the intense emotional outbursts, he admits he finds fulfilment in the duality of the character. I honestly enjoy both,” says Neil. “The lighter moments give Shiv a certain warmth and make him feel more real, while the emotional scenes push me as an actor. It’s that balance that makes playing this character so fulfilling.”

The drama is only dynamic from here. The entry of Vicky promises to flip the script, introducing a complex emotional triangle that will disrupt existing relationships. Warning fans to brace themselves for a rocky road ahead, Neil teases, “Vicky’s entry changes the emotional equation in a big way. It brings new conflicts, misunderstandings and unexpected situations that will test every relationship. I think viewers will see a very different side of Shiv as the story moves forward.”
