For actor Avinash Wadhawan, recently seen in Rajshri Productions’ web series Sangamarmar and TV show Manpasand Ki Shaadi, travel is not simply a break from work. It is a way to stay curious, observe the world and return with a fresh perspective. From understanding different cultures to questioning his own routines, the actor believes every journey has something to teach.

Travel, he says, has played an important role in both his personal and professional life. “Travelling has always been an important part of my life. As an actor, my profession has taken me to many places in India and abroad, but my personal travels have taught me even more,” he said.

For Avinash, the value of travelling lies in what he observes along the way. “Travelling gives me fresh energy, fresh ideas and sometimes even fresh perspectives on the characters I play,” he said.

He doesn’t approach travel like a checklist of famous destinations. Instead, he prefers to immerse himself in the everyday life of a place. “I don’t travel as a tourist ticking off landmarks. I travel as an observer, absorbing the people, culture, food and everyday life around me,” he said.

According to him, that curiosity has a lasting impact. “Every journey leaves me richer in experience and helps me stay curious, grounded and connected to the world,” he added.

Breaking away from routine, he adds, can also encourage people to question the lives they have become accustomed to. “Travel breaks routine. Most of us spend our lives following a fixed schedule, often without questioning it,” he said.

Being exposed to different ways of living can then lead to deeper questions about one’s own priorities. “When you travel, especially without a rigid plan, you encounter different ways of living. You meet people who define success differently, who value time, relationships or experiences more than possessions and yet seem perfectly happy,” he said.

For Avinash, that can become a moment of self-reflection. “That’s when you start asking yourself, ‘Am I living the life I truly want, or just following a pattern?’ Travel creates that space for reflection,” he added.

One journey that particularly stayed with him was a trip to Brighton, a seaside town near London. Unlike a work schedule, the trip gave him the freedom to simply follow his curiosity. “That trip gave me a unique sense of freedom and self-discovery. There was no agenda, no shooting schedule to follow except your own curiosity. That trip reminded me of enjoying the journey rather than constantly focusing on the destination,” he said.

When he returned, the impact was less about anything external and more about his state of mind. “I felt lighter and more aware of how important it is to slow down and enjoy the present moment,” he ended.
